Similarities Between Frankenstein And The Rebellious Robot

In the stories, “The Rebellious Robot” and Frankenstein, the author puts a twist on them. “The Rebellious Robot” is just the story of Frankenstein, but in modern day. Frankenstein is a story about Victor Frankenstein, accompanied by his friend Henry Clerval, reflecting on the monster he created. “The Rebellious Robot” is based on the same thing, but it is reflecting on the robot Dev built, accompanied by his friend Greta. In each of these stories, the author uses the same theme, partially same characters, and different point of views.
The theme of these two passages is runaway technology. For instance in Frankenstein, it states, “Doubtless my words surprised Henry; he at first believed them to be the wanderings of my disturbed imagination, but the pertinacity with which I continually recurred to the same subject persuaded him that my disorder indeed owed its origin to some uncommon and terrible event.” This is just one of the examples that the author uses throughout the passage of Frankenstein. To compare, in “The Rebellious Robot”, it states, “"Clean!" Dev commanded. The robot's lights flashed blue as a small broom and dustbin emerged from its undercarriage.” These quotes are used in each passage,

In “The Rebellious Robot”, there is a boy and girl, Greta and Dev. “Greta took a minute to close her eyes and process everything Dev had said.” Greta and Dev are friends, and Dev created a monster that Greta has went to check out. However, the characters are somewhat similar considering that there is one making the machine/ monster, and one who is the friend, coming to check it out.
