Many countries around the world celebrate their own type of tradition that is part of their culture. While some may celebrate occasions that could be similar but they share a different meaning. Traditions are celebrated because it has a purpose and matters in the culture. Halloween and Día de los Muertos are two popular traditions that happen in certain countries such as the United States and Mexico. They are both celebrated for a reason and are important too many people. The Día de los Muretos is a Mexico tradition that is celebrated to honor people have departed. In 1519, Civilizations (the Olmecs, Mayans, and Aztecs) believed there was an afterlife when people deceased from earth. Every year Aztecs have festivals to celebrate them. They also honor the underworld queen known as Mictecacihuatl. They didn’t believe in mourning the dead. They thought they didn’t cease to exist but were on their way to a better place. Altars also respected the dead and believed in having objects that were part of the ceased person’s life. It soon became a famous holiday to be celebrated.
