Can you relate to this? Where two different people act the exact same and you can not tell them apart. Yet William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Disney’s The Lion King have similarities and differences. In William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Hamlet finds out that his uncle killed his father who was the king. So during the play, Hamlet waits for a time his uncle is sinning in order to kill him. But during Disney’s The Lion King, Simba gets stuck in a herd of wallabies and his father saves him, but as his father is climbing up the rock his brother pushes him. The uncle blames Simba for his father’s death. Simba does not know until the end of the movie that his uncle pushes his father off the rock. William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Disney’s The Lion King are similar because the brother of the king kills him. They are different because Hamlet is wanting revenge for his father’s death and Simba blames himself for his father’s death. …show more content…
In Act 3 Scene 3 Claudius admitted while praying that he killed the king Old Hamlet. “But oh, what form of prayer/ Can serve my turn, “Forgive me my foul murder”?/ That cannot be, since I am still possessed / Of those effects for which I did the murder: My crown, mine own ambition, and my queen”. (Shakespeare III.iii. 52 - 56) This is when Claudius confesses to killing Hamlet. At the end of the movie Scar also confesses when Simba comes back. However this is what happens in the movie. Scar confesses to killing Mufasa at the end when Simba comes back to the rock because he wanted to be king. But he had to fight Scar for his spot. As Simba was about to fall off the rock, Scar told him he killed Mufasa. The movie and play are similar because the king's were killed by their brothers. Because of the death of the kings, Hamlet and The Lion King are
