There are many uncanny similarities between the two countries of Europe and Japan, although there were many differences between the two cultures. To gain a better understanding of development in countries isolated from each other you have to research and compare. There were many uncanny similarities between the social and military/warrior features of tokugawa Japan and those from medieval Europe , considering they developed in isolation from one another, however there were also some differences between the two countries.

There were many features of society in both countries on Medieval Europe and Tokugawa Japan. The society of a country is how countries develop and live, with traditions and ways of life. Both these countries had a social hierarchy with a social class the European social pyramid was the king, the nobles/lords, the Knights/Vassals, Merchants/farmers/craftsmen and then peasants and serfs. Both countries had a way of life and a system of warriors but there were some differences in these categories between Japan and Europe. The japanese did not pay 10% of their yearly wage to the church or the person in power, however the European did. Medieval Europe the ‘ average person’ paid 10% of their yearly wage to the church, this bill was called the ‘tithe’ (skwirk). This is an example of a social difference. The two countries also had differences between warrior systems aswell. The European had a personal assistant called a squire, a squire had trained since he was 7 and was now at least 14 and looked after horses, armor, weapons and accompanied the Knight the battles and tournaments (document).
