Because of lenny’s illness, it led to his eventual death at the hands of his closest friend George. whom Lenny looked up to, as a teacher.

Lenny died due to many reasons, the biggest being he was dangerous to humanity. Not because he had ill will, but because he was mentally ill, not sure how to act and what was alright to do. This caused many strifes, with him not only killing animals like mice and bunnies but also humans.
