Marc Antony’s speech following the murder of Caesar from Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and Senator Robert Kennedy’s speech following the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. share similarities and difference. Both obviously exceed in their goals, and the speakers say their victims die as a result of the dedication to their cause, and neither seem to think it is justifiable. While Antony stirs up his crowd to a mob, Kennedy reminds them to stay calm and work for improvement and not further violence. Antony chooses to more secretly praise the work of Caesar, while Kennedy outwardly praises the work of Martin Luther King Junior. Both Marc Antony and Robert Kennedy establish themselves as strong speakers in a place of crisis, but they have noticeable differences, as Kennedy calls the country to peace and understanding Antony excites a mob mentality; however both convey the idea that the good of the future of the country rest in the actions of the audience and that the victims died as a result of …show more content…
Both Antony and Kennedy proclaim that the victims die as a result of disagreement over the victims opinions and action, which is seen in the way they address the crowd. In opposition though Antony calls the crowd to revenge Caesar producing a mob mentality, while Kennedy calls for peace by utilizing King’s own principles as an evidence and an example for such a response. Then again in opposition Kennedy chooses to outwardly praise King and his actions, and Antony chooses to take a more manipulative route to convince the citizens of his personal agenda.
