There is little a man can do to avoid his destiny. Homer and Virgil depicted such tragedies thousands of years ago, and though their tales were fabricated from myths, their lessons were in no way abstract. Destiny finds us all in strange ways, but few will ever understand the power of destiny as well as one man. One man whose life was both emboldened and destroyed all at once. Such is the tale of King Louis Armstrong the 16th of France. No other man has found such tragedy in their existence, yet if not for this man, the world would be a much darker place.
Though he would one day reign from the alcoves of Versailles, King Louis knew nothing of his lineage or nobility. Rather, he was born a world away, in the soulful alleys of New Orleans.

As Louis Armstrong was creating unity between all of America, France was experiencing a disunity like no other before. There was an unparalleled class struggle, and the common people had become aware of their subjugation at last. Even worse, the current ruler, King Louis the 15th, had died of smallpox and left the empire in a state of disarray. The nobility were desperate for a leader in the fight against the commoners, but with no heirs and no trace of the late king's lineage, scholars were forced to scour all records to find some heir to reclaim the throne and bring order to the madness. Finally, they found a name, and in perplexion and disbelief, they brought the name forward: Louis Armstrong. Slave affairs and numerous consorts had bestowed Louis Armstrong with the blood of royalty, and though an African American would have been accepted by none, the nobility continued on with malicious intent. Louis Armstrong would be their scapegoat, their sacrifice, their strawman. The common people would reject the new king so unilaterally that the blame would shift to him and him alone.
