Over these three time periods, it is clear that freedom and equality for people of color was a common view that carried over through the years. In the pre-colonial era, it was a known fact that African civilizations were superior which was also addressed by Malcolm X in the excerpt "Satan" from his autobiography. MLK and Malcolm also used religion to support their claims and prove why blacks should be treated with respect. King's main view was that we all children of God and should join together as one. Malcolm believed that no matter what religion you practiced they all had to the same enemy and had to stick together.
