At the commencement of the play, the Montague and Capulet servants are fighting amongst each other. Prince Escalus breaks up the fight and forewarns them that if another fight occurs between the two families, they will be put to death. In Act 3, Juliet threatens to kill herself after hearing about the incident that transpired between Romeo and Tybalt. She surmised that he had killed himself so she wanted to kill herself as well. Additionally, Romeo threatened to commit suicide after killing Tybalt and being banished from the city. He assumed that Juliet now thought of him as a murderer so he tried to stab himself. Also in Act 3, Tybalt kills Mercutio and while he is dying, he quoted, “Ask for me tomorrow and you will find me a grave man”. This pun is heard by the men who witnesses his death. Many of those people during his time didn’t hesitate to attempt to kill themselves or another person. The thought of themselves dying didn’t bother them as much as it would have today. More appealing electronics, recreational attractions, luxury goods, etc., have been created during these past few years. These are the types of things that have made people today be afraid to die, because they haven’t had the chance to possess or experience them. Shakespeare chose to write a tragic ending for Romeo and Juliet, because he wanted to teach us a lesson. That lesson was to be patient and don’t rush things in a relationship because doing so, often results in a negative outcome. One example of this would be death, as written in the play, Romeo and Juliet. People commonly find it difficult to take things slowly and just let time bring them closer together. Being patient allows a true and strong connection to form within the relationship in that length of
