“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”, This quote goes incredibly well with the allegorical book Animal Farm, by George Orwell It’s a human instinct to seek power, many go as far as using people who are weaker or less fortunate, and often ignore what is wrong and right in order to rise to the top. George Orwell uses Napoleon as a good example to illustrate that a lot of dictators use unfair methods to get and keep power. He also shows that power cannot be divided equally, but can only be corrupted. Old Majors’ (Karl Marx) dream a society where everyone is equal; Napoleon(Stalin) however manipulated that dream and that caused many problems. Both cases citizens survived from a great famine. For example, in the Russian Revolution the people grew only a little food because most of the MEN were off at war, and the food that was grown went to the soldiers. This is similar to what happened in Animal Farm because Farmer Jones was getting drunk and not feeding the animals so they were suffering from famine. Another way they are similar has to do with the new ideology that was created. In the Russian Revolution, Karl Marx created an ideology called communism by writing the Communist Manifesto. Likewise, Animal Farm’s ideology was created Old Major with the Seven Commandments. Both also fell victim of corrupt leaders after their revolutions. In the Russian Revolution, Stalin became their leader, and he had a secret military who would execute people who didn't agree with him.
