Conservative values and traditionalistic ideals have been an accepted part of culture dating back to ancient Greece. In Euthyphro by Plato, Socrates and Euthyphro discuss the citizens’ many concerns about Socrates as a teacher. The community primarily worries about Socrates newfound theories that potentially contradict traditional values. For example, Meletus indicts Socrates for “corrupting his contemporaries” because he introduces too many new ideas that have not yet become conventionally accepted (CITATION).
