Similarities Between The Dying Girl And The Crucible

The dying girl that no one helped was about a lady by the name of Kitty Genovese, who was murdered in New York in her neighborhood while at least 38 people witnessed this act of Lechery. The people claimed that they didn’t step in because they didn’t want to be questioned or become a potential suspect. The Crucible was about a girl by the name of Abigail Williams who falsely accused several people in her village of Salem of witchcraft in hopes of getting vengeance. The girls who knew that she was lying and who helped her lie didn’t want to speak up and help because they were afraid of her, and they thought that she’d do the same to them and accuse them of witchcraft. There were several similarities and differences between the two stories.
Some similarities between the two stories was that in both cases there were witnesses to the event that occured. In the story “The dying girl that no one helped” the witnesses was her neighbors. And in the story “The Crucible” the witnesses were the girls and the people of Salem. In both stories these people were aware of what was happening at the time, they just chose to put themselves first meaning keep their best interest at heart and not speak up or say anything. And In both stories the victims was murdered.

The reason to why the witnesses of “the dying girl that no one helped” didn’t help Ms. Kitty was because the neighbors didn’t want to have to go to court, be questioned, or become a potential suspect. In contrast, the witnesses in the “The Crucible” didn’t speak up against Abigail because they didn’t want her to accuse them of witchcraft.
