The short story The Veldt by Ray Bradbury, The speech Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death by Patrick Henry, The short story Nature by Ralph Waldo Emerson, The movie WALL-E by Pixar. Each and every one of these sources of entertainment has few if any connections with each other unless you compare all of them to the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Fahrenheit 451 has a web of connections between each of these pieces of art. The Science fiction connection between Wall-e and one of his other works The Veldt. The rebellious side of the story from Patrick henry’s famous speech. Lastly the Transcendentalist side of the book with Nature. Patrick Henry was a great source of inspiration during the revolutionary war, fighting against his current government even if he dies. “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!” This quote from his speech shows his dedication to die for what he believes in just as Montag does as he keeps his multiple books because he enjoys them. “ I become a transparent eyeball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part of parcel of God.” The transparent eyeball represents an eye that soaks in its surroundings, and therefore takes in all that nature has to offer just as Clarisse shows Montag some things nature has to offer. “ Before he could move she had put the dandelion under his chin.(pg.22)” This shows how Clarisse is very similar to a transcendentalist as she enjoys nature and enjoys showing others what it has to
