What is the advantage of being manipulated? People do not have to make any decision especially for people who are not strong enough and lack of confident. In the story 1984 by George Orwell and the movie V for Vendetta by David Lloyd, both have used propaganda and slogan to for public controlled.
In 1984, the author shows a strong image on manipulation.The government teaches people how to do double thinking. People are forced to accept “the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously”. This shows that when double thinking is putting two contradictory beliefs into one, people still need to accept them. The most important example of doublethink is when the government teaches the people that “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is the strength.” Unfortunately, we may know these are not true but the government manipulates the public with false information and encourages them to accept everything. The government is shown to be really powerful in regards to manipulate people’s lives. The government is good at spying secrets so “you must also hide from yourself”.
