The song Reflection, sung by Mulan in the Disney movie Mulan, is about how Mulan can’t be herself because if she is, no one would be happy with who she is. So she tries to please everyone by disguising herself as someone she is not. This theme is shown through the whole song and helped with similes, personification and hyperboles. Firstly, a simile that helps the theme is “Every day/ It’s as if I play a part”. Which shows that she feels like she has to play a person in a play which looks like her, but is a different person entirely that she has to act like to please the crowd.
