Reflection #1 After reading The Sunflower by Simon Wiesenthal, I was able to really realize and digest how bad the Jews were treated during the Holocaust. Reading the book by Bergen was very informal about the events during the Holocaust, but it was not until I finished the The Sunflower was I able to put everything in perspective by reading a first hand account. The whole time while reading the book I had a constant thought of how could God allow all these horrendous things to happen to these innocent people. An interesting quote that was said throughout the book was that “God was on leave”. Which was an interesting way of looking at it because how could anyone wrap around the thought of God watching all these horrible things occurring
