The life of an immigrant in a foreign country might be tough because they are seen as a foreigner and not a resident of the country. Sinuhe in “The Tale of Sinhue” has endured hardships as an immigrant in the country of Syria because of the circumstances that were happening back home in Egypt. By leaving Egypt, Sinuhe becomes a refugee finding a country to live in exile while things back home get resolved. According to Sinhue “country gave me to country,” Sinhue explains that he went from one country to another because the native residents resent Sinhue as a foreigner. The residents believe that the foreigner is just coming to take their jobs and that they should not be welcome there to live. Sinuhe continues his journey traveling until he reaches Syria, this where he meets Amuneneshi who proposes a deal with Sinuhe. …show more content…
Sinhue lives in exile in Syria for a few years and becomes successful at his job until he is confronted by a fellow Asiatic. Sinhue proves this when the story says “a hero of Retjenu came to provoke me in my tent; he was a peerless champion, who had subjugated all the land.” Sinhue eventually wins the battle, but now Sinhue has doubts that more Asiatic will come and comfort him. There will be a battle where Sinuhe won’t be able to win and he would be killed. Sinuhe wants to leave before it is too late and return home where he will have a proper burial.
