In the passage "Sinners in the hands of an Angry Go," said by Jonathan Edwards, includes biblical allusions, personification and repetition throughout the passage to persuade his audience at the time about the importance of the religion. Throughout the passage Edwards allusion to the bible makes his persuasion stronger. In paragraph one Edwards states,"...the fire pent up in their own hearts is struggling to break out;and they have no interest in any Mediator, there are no means within reach that can be any security to them." Jonathan Edwards makes a reference here to the Mediator, in which the bible states is a spirit that protects the people and listens to them for an sin they have committed. His intention towards the audience is to allow them to understand that in hell there will be no one to listen to them. There is no one to protect them from the fire that will consume their hearts. By referring to the bible, the audience finds it believable and it was the only book they could reference to at the time.
