Situational Irony In The Parsley Garden

In the short story The Parsley Garden, the manager of Woolworth’s displayed one example of irony. Al, the protagonist, wanted a ten-cent hammer from the store, however he had no money. Al tried to steal the hammer, but a man who worked at the store caught him and brought Al to the manager. The manager was not mean to Al but was stern, as Al did almost commit a crime. After talking to Al he let him go. Al still wanted the hammer, so he went back to Woolworth’s and asked to work there for the day so he could afford the hammer. The manager let Al have the job and gave him the hammer.
