The character Ryan in Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman, is an aspiring writer. He had fallen through a gap in the railing in the dredge and broke his leg badly. He has a full leg cast on aka Big Bertha. His friend Sarah thinks something is going on with the town. Eventually she loops Ryan into looking into it even more. Where he learns that if you want to know everything you have to persevere.
Although Ryan is in a full leg cast he would rather die writing then not write. He has always kept a journal with him, so he can keep a hold on what is happening in his town. Now he is writing to document his findings and show he is not crazy. Mainly because everyone does not believe him but Sarah does. She is the only one who believes him and wants to…show more content… Sarah emails him her finding through videos. Ryan emails her his finding through pictures and text. He shows most of the emails and video codes in his journal for the reader. After he will say what he thought of it and anything he picked up on. He knows he could possibly get in major trouble, but he still does it because he knows it will pay off. Because the secrets start to show more and more.
Ryan and Sarah learn more secrets about Skeleton Creek's past. They start to learn about Old Joe Bush, a former worker at the dredge who fell into the gears where Ryan fell in but he died. They also find out about the Crossbones, a secret organization for people born in Skeleton Creek only. They find out Ryan's dad is somehow involved, because he has the symbol for gold tattooed on his shoulder. Then they look more into the dredge and Sarah finds a lever in a picture.
Ryan and Sarah meet up at the Dredge. With Ryan wearing a full leg brace, it was no easy task for them to get in. But they do get inside and with some looking they find the lever. Which opens a secret room.The room has a lock thing and names including the name of Ryan's dad. They go in there before being locked in there, by the ghost of Old Joe Bush. They call out for help in the camera live stream then they cut it off because the camera is about to
