The book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper is a historical fiction book about slavery through a young slave girl Amari’s point of view. The novel starts out in Amari’s village of Ziavi everything is peaceful until her village is destroyed. She is then taken by the white men to become a slave. After this the white men take her to a horrible place called cape coast and then is sent to America on a horrible ship that she likes to refer to as the ship of death. After her long and painful journey across the Atlantic she is sold and sent to work as a slave on DerbyShire farms. In the novel there are many similarities and differences between the plantation that Amari is sent to work on and her village in Africa.
