Currently, there are two film versions of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, one version gives a more accurate account of the legend than the other for several reasons. The first film, “Sleepy Hollow”, had Johnny Depp in it. The movie was based on Washington Irving’s story, Kevin Yagher and Andrew Kevin Walker did the screen story. Also, Andrew Kevin Walker did the screenplay. The director of this film is Tim Burton. The second film, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Disney, is based on Washington Irving’s story too. The directors, Clyde Geronimi and Jack Kinney, directed the film. Both of these movies can be found on amazon.com. Even though both movies used different directors, they had similar information. For example, the endings were really different. In “Sleepy Hollow”, Ichabod, Katrina, and Ichabod’s servant move into the city while in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, Ichabod encounters the Headless Horseman and Ichabod disappears. Another example between the two movies is the stepmother of Katrina. “Sleepy Hollow” talks about Mrs. Van Tassel being a witch and she controls the Headless Horseman. “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, did not talk about Katrina’s stepmother because she did not have one. One big detail showed a big difference in the movies was Ichabod Crane. Ichabod Crane came to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the murders in the movie, “Sleepy Hollow”. In the other movie, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, Ichabod Crane lives in Sleepy Hollow because he is the new schoolmaster. Another difference was the Headless Horseman. For example, “Sleepy Hollow” shows the Headless Horseman looking for his skull head because someone took his head. The film that Disney created the Headless Horseman uses a pumpkin for his head.
