There is so many different definition of scars, whether is physical, emotionally, or mentally. Scars has a substantial impact in a person life from when they were a child to their adult years. As seen through Emily from “A rose for Emily” and Jamal from “Slumdog Millionaire”. Scars doesn’t go away, but it how the individual overcome it. Miss Emily is a perfect example of her having emotionally and mentally scar. In the beginning the story itself portray Emily to be a very secretive and a mysterious women . Although she was alone ever since her father died, I felt like the father made her depend on him more when he was alive. Her father was very controlling, and even kept Emily from finding her husband to keep her under his control. An example….

Jamal is a clever, smart, and a brave soul. He had a rough childhood. There were so many things in his childhood that scar him in his life. In the movie, Jamal watch his mother got killed in front of him. I think at that age he not aware of what was going on but it helps him as an adult, to know what had happen to his mom and why she was killed and also help him answer the questions in the game. Another scar that Jamal had was Latika. There was plenty of time Jamal left Latika behind because of his oldest brother jealous ways. Every time Jamel thought he lost her, he thinks about her. Beside those two examples despite everything he went through he overcome it, he learns from it and became a better
