Everyone would agree that their home town is better than anyone else’s. We all love where we come from and how we got there. But at some point or another, we all find another place that we enjoy more than anything. Whether you moved away with your parents or moved on to college on your own. Seattle is where I lived my whole life up until I moved to The Dalles in eighth grade with my dad. I will say, nothing better could have happened then for me to move here. Even though there are many different pros and cons, I believe living in a smaller town is a much healthier and friendly environment to live than a place like Seattle. We all know that there is much more activities and places to go in a town like Seattle then there is in a place like The Dalles. I mean, all we really have is a movie theater is what most people think. To me, I see a wide range of country for people like me and most kids in The Dalles. Activities that include mudding, camping, hunting or just exploring our states backyard. When I lived in Seattle, no one drove big trucks or wanted to go hunting. People would look at you weird if you even talked about that stuff. The only downside, if you are a sports lover, it’s hard to go to pro ball games which the closest is over an hour away in Portland. Or, for baseball and football, we have to go all the way to Seattle. Secondly, Seattle is clearly a very big city with a lot of people. When I go walking down the streets, it’s about a one in a million chance that I see someone I know. Most of the time I’ll be walking or driving and see more people flipping you off then you see someone saying hello or waving. Having many attractions also brings in a lot of people from all over, which makes Seattle a tourist town. Tourists are a good source of income for a city don’t get me wrong, but it’s just more strangers and people you don’t know. That much more people makes it easier for crime to be done and not a safe place to live. I love the feeling of being able to walk through stores or just down town The Dalles and be able to know half the people I see. My family is really well known in The Dalles area and feels good for people to recognize you then to just constantly pass you by in a big city. Smaller towns are a better environment to grow up in and be a part of. Growing up in an area with the same kids your whole life really make a good impact on life that creates that lifelong bond with each other. I found out that it is much easier to stay friends with people in a smaller town then it is in a town that has close to a million people. Also, living in a town with 12,000 people when you know everyone, means less crime. I would love for my kids in the future to grow up in a town like The Dalles. Furthermore, I have found out from experience of
