In the novel Animal Farm by George Orwell, many things go wrong. At the beginning of the book, Old Major influences the animals to rebel against their owner, Mr. Jones. After this, Old Major dies and Snowball and Napoleon take leadership. They win the battle against Mr. Jones, which allows the animals to be in control of themselves. Napoleon wants all of the power so he exiles Snowball from Animal Farm. With Napoleon being in charge, the farm completely changes from what they always dreamed of. There are many animals that can be blamed for the failure of Animal Farm, but the animals that are mainly responsible are the pigs.
One of the reasons the pigs are at fault is because the Seven Commandments that were made at the beginning, were all changed by the pigs. The original commandments were made by Napoleon, Squealer, and Snowball, but when Napoleon takes over the farm he decides to change them. For example, the commandment “no animal shall drink alcohol” is now “no animal shall drink alcohol to excess”(43,113) We know

When Napoleon decides to sell piles of timber, Frederick tries to buy some with banknotes. Later on, Napoleon learns that his bank notes are forgeries, which makes causes Napoleon to pronounce the death sentence on Frederick. The next morning Frederick and 14 men attack Animal Farm in attempt to take it over. After the Battle of the Windmill is over, the narrator says, “They had won, but they were weary and bleeding. Slowly they began to limp back towards the farm. The sight of their dead comrades stretched upon the grass moved some of them to tears”(109). Because of this battle, many animals were killed and their farm was destroyed. The worst part of the battle was that the windmill was demolished.
