Temple Grandin

Thinking in Pictures Do you know what people with autisms area capable of? Temple Grandin is a very special girl, she has a mind blowing talent that she has no idea about. She can see things in pictures. Meaning she imagines what is said into a picture, she can remember every shoe she has ever seen. As Temple opened a gate, she saw the degrees of the angle it was opening to, she glanced at a French book and knew every word, was able to name everything she’s seen, and was able to form an optical illusion. Temple was just arriving on the ranch with her aunt, to be stay there for the summer. She was asked to open the gate so her they could drive through, and as the gate opened, she could see how the degrees of the angle increased. Later, she is able to construct a wheel and pulley on the gate. Her doing this allowed whoever arrived to the gate to pull the rope and they will have about forty-five seconds to drive through. Temple picturing the gate as an angle allowed her to see how far the gate can open which helped her with her invention. Also, with just a glance at her text book knew every word that was written. After shutting her book she was asked to repeat what she has read. When temple had done this perfectly, her teacher had asked if she learned the reading, which she had not. She explained that she has a photographic memory, she took what she saw and put all the pieces together to form the whole page. Another “incident” in French class was visible by her notebook. The words “ils est” mean he is, but in Temple’s notes she had two eels eating at a dinner table. She heard “eels ate” instead of the French words for “he is.” This is another example of how temple is able to comprehend things as pictures. At school, a horse that Temple was able to get close to, Chesnutt, passed away. When she found him she was met by one of her teachers. Later in their conversation he told her to not remember Chesnutt like she had just seen. Then, Temple was able to name off all the horses she has ever seen that looked like Chesnutt. Her teacher then asked if she could remember everything she has ever seen, Temple was then able to list every
