After World War one had ended the US faced great prosperity. As new inventions emerged, consumer culture had started to come into play. This revolved around the idea that material goods could achieve happiness. The US economy nearly doubled in five years. This booming time became known as the roaring twenties.

One of the major changes that occurred in the roaring twenties was social changes with woman. Women in the 1920s asserted change and increased in social, political, and economic power. More women went to college and entered the work force as teachers or nurses. Some women became flappers and would rebel against tradition. Women confidence boomed just like the economy, and they started their long road to independence.
