Context A man has labeled me as a terrorist because I was Muslim. The man asked me “are you carrying a bomb in your bag to kill us?” this was just as the world was hearing the tragic news that France’s bombing. This type of labeling was disgusting to me because of the fact that innocent people that have no intentions to harm others are being accused of this because they a group of people decided that “hey were bored let's blow something up and blame it on this race to suffer.” The decisions of others have impacted people that are in no way a part of this outrageous acts, all because they claim to be practicing the same faith. The times that I felt affected by my social location in a negative way was in high school. During high school people were divided up into groups based on their social location i.e. Spanish, Muslims, blacks, and the rich white people. These were the names each group went by when referred to or talked about. In high school, the label of your social location was an enormous part of who you hung out with and how you acted that it was rare for other groups to socialize with each other. Nowadays, I don’t feel as affected by my social location because when I got to college it felt like no one way judging each other by how they looked or where they came from, it felt like a new …show more content…
