In my first article entitled, “Rules around social media at the work create ‘grey area’ for Calgary corporation” Lucie Edwardson look into how Calgary based corporations regulate their social policy within their organization. In her first part of the article, Edwardson interview Wendy Giuffre, president and principal consultant at Wendy Ellen Inc., to get an explanation on how corporations inforce social policy on staff members within the company. In her explanation to the author, Wendy explains that for a corporation to deal with social media within the workplace is difficult because she says there is a lack of legislation and policy that bound organization, which she says causes a “grey area” (Edwardson, 2015). To get a better point of view of corporation policy, the author begins her search at one of the biggest workplaces in Calgary, city hall. After her deep search inside municipal documents, the author notices that on the social policy documents a quick reminder is entrench reminding all staff that “Social media conversation are between one person and many people” (Edwardson, 2015). Although the company did not make any copy public for this story, Metro, the publisher of this newspaper was able to retrieve a copy of both Suncor and Cenovus online, which included rules and guidelines relating to the use of social media.
