In the Brave New World, the World State controls society and its motto is community, identity, and stability. Everyone in society is happy, because they were made to believe they are.
Society changed after the nine years war in A.F.150. Everything had been destroyed and government decided to create a new society. World State systems include conditioning, sleep teaching, and how sex is a game.
First, a major World State system is conditioning. In this text,” Till last me child mind is these suggestions, and the sum of the suggestions is the child’s mind.”(Huxley 28-29). The quote is explaining how the World State controls society mind. People in society have their individuality taken away. In this text,” oh no, I don’t want to play with Delta Children.”(Huxley 27). Children in society are sleep taught in a class called Elementary Class Consciousness. Sleep teaching is used as a form of hypnopedia. In this text, “I’m really awfully glad I’m a beta, because I don’t work so hard.”(Huxley 27). Another lesson in the class is conditioning the children to like their specific social class. They are taught to believe their destiny is to be a certain social class.
Finally, the last system is how society treats sex as a game. In this text, “poor kids not allowed to amuse themselves?”(Huxley 32). The quote questions why kids were not allowed to engage in sexual games, before the nine years war. The thought is horrible and unwelcoming. In this text, “Oh she’s a splendid girl.
