Sociogram 2 displayed the trends, interactions, relationships, and possible concerns within my community. This assignment showed the two students with whom I had concerns with at that time. It also emphasized the strong interactions and relationships that a great deal of my residents had with one another. I have been working towards the goals that I established for Sociogram 2 and throughout the year, these goals when continue to adapt to my community at that time. Sociogram 2 is still fairly accurate description of my community. The common paths that students took that were displayed in this assignment are still true in my current community, in addition, some other residents have joined the common flow of traffic to the rooms that are located …show more content…
The residents that I felt like were the informal leaders on my floor and those most likely to help with programming are still very accurate within my community and I feel like these residents have grown and fulfill these descriptions even more so now. The two students that I had concerns for have greatly changed. Nick has made more of an effort to branch out on his own and took my advice on forming study groups for his classes because it is an easy way to review with others, gain new perspective on a topic, and meet new people and strengthen those relationships. Eric, on the other hand, still appears to not leave his room much. As I continued to talk to other Resident Adviser within my building to gain some strategies on how to approach Eric, the leaders that I had identified in Sociogram 2 had taken note of Eric’s lack of involvement within the hall and have been making an effort to include his more in their plans. I hear them invite him to dinner, the movies, and to other activities on a regular basis. Eric seems to be very receptive of these invitations, but seems to rely on others for the invitation instead of initiating it some on his own. I think he will grow in his confidence and willingness to reach out if he feels welcome and comfortable around other people within our community. Two of the goals that I constructed during the Sociogram 2 assignment coincided and could all be addressed through programming. I have asked residents if they have programming ideas, but many seem to be hesitant and feel like it is a lot to take on. One resident has reached out to me and wants to plan a movie night soon and many have come to me because they were interested in doing a “Secret Snowman” gift exchange for the holidays. I am going to continue to talk to residents about programming and offer them more opportunities to get involved in the ones that I plan. I still feel like participation
