Introduction
This report deals with the problem statement “Socio-cultural impacts of tourism in turkey” and will firstly give information about Socio-cultural impacts of tourism in general. Moreover the reader will get an overview of the tourism development with a small focus on the Mediterranean Area.

Years later, after the 1980 military coup, the development started.
For turkey the development of tourism also meant industrialization and economic growth.
It cannot be said that tourism developed equally in the whole country as some (underdeveloped) regions are nearly completely free of tourism. While tourism grow and still is growing along the coast, regions in the interior country stay untouched from tourism. As already mentioned the Mediterranean and Aegean Area are already developed very well and appeal to tourist interests. Tourists can be satisfied by sun, sea and compared to other regions both, the Mediterranean and Aegean Area offer a “good” infrastructure.That is why the focus is set more on this western area of turkey. The flourishing development is an effect of international support by tour operators. Additionally both regions received governmental preference and support. The tourism development was so successful, that demand got such high that in some parts of the Mediterranean Area but also in the Aegean Area mass tourism can be found.
Turkey has stimulated tourists to come to the country by building different types of hotels, from low standard to five star hotels up to luxury resorts as the resorts in Kemer or Belek (Mediterranean Area).
