How can the pressure groups be classified and why?

The BMA is a voluntary group which is classified as a sectional pressure group and it represents and stands for all registered people in the medical profession. The BMA quotes ‘We are a voice for doctors and medical students’. In addition the British medical association is classified as being insider pressure group as it has a close link with political decision makers in government therefore gets its opinions and views seen by people in government.

What do they stand for?

The BMA are a strong and expressive voice for doctors and medical students, they are also in regular contact with departments of government, ministers and inflectional bodies of England Ireland Scotland and Wales. ‘We are committed to keeping members in touch with the profession’s collective views and policies and to being at the forefront of healthcare development.’
The BMA also promote, allied and medical science, they also want to promote the quality of health care and the interests into the medical profession.
