In the novel Something Wicked This Way Comes Ray Bradbury uses many literary elements including irony. Dramatic and Situational irony occur often throughout the novel. One example of dramatic irony is in “In ten minutes, please, meet me in the police station….Mr.Halloway?” (Bradbury, 123). Miss Foley doesn’t know that the boys didn’t take her jewelry but her “nephew” set them up. The audience and Charles Halloway both know that the boys didn’t take her jewelry. Another example of dramatic irony is shown through “From the beginning.” Wills father pulled out chairs. “Please.” (190) In this line the audience and the boys know all about the carnival and Mr. Dark and Mr. Cooger.
