The examples that Sonia M. Nieto used to describe the sociopolitical context of education and school policies and practices that affect student learning is quite alarming due to “best practices,” “21st Century Skills” and STEM that most schools have been adopting into their curriculum to support all students. I am biased to think some schools are multicultural only because races and ethnic groups are focusing on building self-esteem with student heritage and cultural backgrounds.
