Kidney stones are a solid piece of material that forms in your kidneys when you have high levels of certain substances in your urine.
The most common types of kidney stones are the ones containing calcium. The reason why is, when your bones and muscles don’t use all the calcium in your body the excess calcium goes to the kidneys. The most people the calcium is flushed out with your urine but with some people all of the calcium will not flush out and combine with waste products and form a stone.
People can have calcium oxalate or calcium phosphate stones. Calcium oxalate stones are more common. Other types of stones are uric acid, struvite and cystine.
Kidney stones vary in size from a grain of sand to the size of a golf ball. They can either be smooth or jagged in shape and are usually the colours yellow or brown.
Kidney stones can happen at any age.

See blood in your urine
Sharp pain in lower abdominal or in your back. This pain can last for a very short or long time. During this pain you could have nausea and also could be vomiting.
