During this semester we have read a lot of different short stories and poems. Many of the readings use different literary devices such as repetition, imagery, tension, metaphor, allusions, and there is plenty more. With taking this classs I have learned what it means to actually close read a short story or a poem. When you close read or analyze you are paying closure attention to the meaning and details behind each sentence. This will help a person have a better understanding of the text. The two that have stuck out to me this semester are Tartuffe and Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz. With theses reading I wanted to find a deeper meaning to what they were writing. Religion and appearance play abig part in this play. With this play the readrer really has to undrrstand the one who is misleading people with a false appearance and the ones who is being mislead. When you read the play the reader can tell what his intentions are by how he is playing each character. Tartuffe is really a religious hypocrisy and he goes against the acceptable view of religion. Even though he goes against the true meaning of religion people still continue to follow him. These people in this play are clearly very religious and it has a huge role in their family. I think this is one of the main reasons everyone in this play is so torn because a person does not question or disrespect a religious figure. There is a deep connection with Tartuffe and Orgon and it appears to become unhealthy when he is more concerned about Tartuffe than his own family. I belive that since Tartuffe appears to be a religious figure it is easier for Orgon to allow him into is household and have a more reliable opinion. Through one of the characters, Cleante, it reveals the true difference between hypocrisy and the true spirituality through him. In reality a true spiritual man does not brag about himself or be prideful at all. Tartuffe is a very showy man and he knows he has his hooks in a few of the family
