For my deaf culture project I have chosen Soshannah Stern, because she plays such an important role in the deaf community & as well as the hearing community. Soshannah was born on July 3 rd of 1980, in California. Her parent’s Ron Stern & Hedy Marilyn Stern are also members of the deaf community, causing her to be the fourth generation on her father’s side to be deaf and third generation on her mother’s side, she also has one sister Louis Stern who is also deaf.
Soshannah Graduated from Gallaudet University which is one of the best universities for deaf students! Her and her husband Ricky Mitchell both had graduated from Gallaudet. Ricky and
Shoshannah got married on June 3 rd of 2012 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They soon had their

Then she finally auditioned for her first role for television and landed a role in off centre as the character Rebecca. Then the roles just started coming in Some television series she’s well known for are Weeds playing the role as Megan Beals from 2005-2012, Supernatural from 2016-2017 playing the role of Eileen Leahy. She has also acted in a few movies as well such as Adventures for power in 2008 as Annie, The hammer is another movie she was in starring as the role of Kristi. My favorite film Soshannah is in would have to be the tv show Weeds, her role is Megan Beals. The tv show is about a family who becomes a part of the drug community &
Megan starts dating the son of the dealer, and gets Megan pregnant.
Soshannah is very important to the deaf community, just because she’s deaf she doesn’t stop her from becoming the most she can be. She has a very determined mind set & isn’t going to let anyone get in her way. Imagine trying to work towards your dream job being deaf, imagine the obstacles, imagine how hard and frustrating it may become and how much you might just want to give up at some points but you don’t! She is much more than just
