The Journey is the Destination I am going down the highway at a speed my eyes cannot keep up with. There’s a long journey ahead of me, I only hope to catch that horizon soon. The trip from California to Oklahoma seemed as long as time itself. Rock after rock and gas station after gas station, it was all one huge blur. One thing keeping me from insanity was my red Gameboy. I went through two packs of AA batteries. Two packs. I think what kept my mind most occupied was the fact I was heading to a new but scary place.
I did not know a single soul which made adjusting to this unknown city hard. I joined my new classmates a month into the year. Everyone had established a name for themselves and a group of friends. As scary as it was having all eyes on me, it felt invigorating. I could show myself without the fear of being judged. Therefore, it was not long before I broke out of my shell. With that in mind, I now see myself as two different people; the person from California and the person from Oklahoma. I like to think I took the best qualities I had and expanded on them making me who I am today.
Life really does come at you pretty fast. Changes happen all the time. That is what makes life tragic, yet beautiful. The move was a major change in my life. I may have not seen the good in it back all those years ago, but without this change I would not have had the opportunity to experience a new world. It opened my mind to different views which in turn, expanded it inward.
