Ayn Rand is the author of the book named Anthem. Ayn was born on February 2nd, 1905 about a decade before the Russian Revolution. When she wrote, as she thought about what the world would be like without the word “I”. As she thought about this when writing, she also thought about her life as a young child and living through the first years of Soviet rule. She witnessed the start of the Russian Revolution and saw fighting in the streets. During this, her father’s pharmacy was nationalized and her family went from upper-middle class to being left with almost nothing.
