Armageddon.
Summary.
This science fiction film starts with a scene where a bunch of asteroids came out of nowhere and destroy a satellite that was being repaired by some astronauts of the NASA. These asteroids also destroy a big part of New York City causing a total catastrophe. After this, NASA’s investigators do some researches to find out what really happened and discover that there was a big asteroid of the size of Texas heading towards the earth and capable of destructing it. So they predict the asteroid will hit the Earth in 18 days. A lot of plans and suggestions are made but unfortunately this plans to destroy the asteroid are totally irrelevant.
After a lot of suggestions, the U.S. military decides to use a nuclear warhead to blow the asteroid to pieces. They are called by NASA’S investigators and they accept the proposition with some conditions and rewards.
But also, there’s a parallel story in this movie. The relationship between A.J. (one of the crew) and Grace (daughter of Harry). Harry doesn’t accept that her daughter grew up and needs to be with the one she loves. At first he totally hates A.J. but later, he gets used to this fact even though he didn’t like it because his daughter was being happy with A.J.
The initial part of the plan started and Harry and his drill team prepare for space excavation. They prepare like real astronauts with a rigorous program. Days go by and the asteroid is still heading towards the Earth. The crucial day comes and the crew is ready to start the mission and determined to destroy the asteroid, so they are launched into outer space in two spaces shuttles, one called Freedom and the other one called Independence.
There, they start doing their job but
