What prompted you to begin this business? “Ever since I was a child, I’ve collected over 200 comic books and it started when I was growing up. I used to go to a small comic store that used to be in this same lot and I would go in and just admire at all the comic books that were on the shelves. One day, when I got my allowance, I went here and I bought my first comic book for 50 cents back in 1979. I’ll never forget that experience, so when I turned 25, I invested around $8,000 to create this store that I hope can produce that same experience that I had for many others.

“The most rewarding part about owning my own business is that I have no boss that is controlling what I could sell because that’s me. I could create my own culture that has obviously been manifested into SpaceCat.
As a small business owner, what advantages do you believe you have over large corporations? “As a small business owner, I believe that we have sort of a one-to-one interaction with our customers and many large corporations don’t offer our local and unique way of bringing people to play, buy, and have fun. Here at SpaceCat, we have one of the most extensive collections available for sale in the New World of vintage video games, consoles, and accessories. On Wednesdays and Friday nights, we host tournaments that create a safe and inviting environment.
What advice do you offer to anyone who is thinking about starting a business of his or her own? “My advice would be if you were to choose a business, choose one that you will have fun and feel comfortable in. Choose a business that you are willing to grow and nurture as you go because I feel that is one of the main reasons why successful people are able to be successful. I don’t mean to be boastful but I think that is the truth. The people who are not complaining about their daily stresses of work, are the people love that love what they do and for me personally, I love to collect and sell comic
