The first major reason for immigrants to the United States was to seek the wealth and precious goods from other countries. In Europe in the 15th century, many people had traveled to the Indies, where the herbs, spices, tea, silk and jars were from. Especially, spices were thought as valuable commodity in Europe so merchants tried to get as much spices as possible from the Indies. But the high mountains and deserts between Europe and Asia were very dangerous to spice traders with bandits waiting to rob the spice caravans.
