It was a problem that there were three times as many helots as there were Spartan citizens. The solution was the Spartan citizens had a strong army to keep the helots from rebelling. Ancient Sparta is located in the southern part of Greece. Ancient Sparta made use of also the non-citizens. non-Spartans were free but could not be in a job at the government. Ancient Sparta has good security because they taught their boys at a young age. The weaknesses of Spartan education system outweighed the strengths in these ways: Breaking up families, lack of reading, and cruelty.
