Speech: Ethanol and Pharmaceutical Drugs Essay

Today I am going to talk about Drugs and alcohol, and how they affect your body and mind and also different types and uses. For example, pharmaceutical drugs can be good but if taken too much or too often they can begin to be bad. Alcohol is used in wipes, disinfectants and cultural ceremonies; it is also a type of drug. You can get so drunk sometimes that you don’t know what you are doing and whilst in that state of mind you have no control, for all you know you could wake up the next morning in prison or just not wake up at all. Everything has age limits but, age is nothing if you are not responsible.
In the first place, drugs can sometimes be a good thing like pharmaceutical drugs that help with sports injuries, headaches, coughs/ colds, but some can also be deadly if taken too much. There are side effects for all drugs, for instance with paracetamol which is used for headaches and minor aches and pains, studies have found that ‘Paracetamol used excessively damages multiple organs, particularly the liver and kidney where toxicity from paracetamol is not from the drug itself but from one of its metabolites, N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone-mine (NAPQI)’. However, if Paracetamol tablets are used in big doses then it can cause you to overdose or have to go to the hospital to get your stomach pumped.
