This report analyzes student opinion of the online learning management system Springboard in order to determine their satisfaction with it.

Periodically, the University of Akron surveys its students to determine student opinion on various topics in relation to the university. Currently, the University of Akron needs a survey to determine student opinion on Springboard. A survey needs to be created in order to determine how students feel about Springboard, and how effective the online learning management system. According to Perry and Pilati (2011), online education makes accessibility easier for students, and students who take online classes generally are more “self-motivated” (p. 100). Fully online courses and courses that offer online aspects in addition to face-to-face instruction provide students with the opportunity to access lessons and other learning tools as needed. Another advantage of online learning includes its ability to benefit both online learning students, as well as traditional learning students. As stated by Perry and Pilati (2011), “Efforts to provide online students with access to all forms of student services could benefit traditional students as well because some efficiencies may be achieved by serving both groups with technology-based support systems” (p. 102). According to Conradie, Moller, and Faleni’s (2014) study, an effective online learning management system can aid in content timeliness, accessibility, richness, and accuracy, which can boost student satisfaction with online learning (p. 152). In terms of learning management systems effect on online learning, Conradie, Moller, and Faleni (2014) claimed that “LMSs [Learning Management Systems] form a critical part in the e‐learning toolkit for higher educational institutions” (p. 153). In terms of student motivation with online courses when using an effective online learning management system, Wichadee (2014) found student motivation to learn was high when working through an online learning management system (p. 15). Wichadee (2014) also claimed that “in this study students saw the advantages of working through the LMS, so they were very active and motivated to learn” (p. 16). The advantages mentioned above include clearly stated instructions and obtaining points for participating in online discussions (Wichadee, 2014, p.16).
