One of the seven women, Blessed Virgin, St. Agnes gets commemorate by name in the Canon of the Mass. Since the middle Ages she is depicted with a lamb, which is a symbol of her virginity and her name Agnes as Angus. St. Agnes is regarded as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, the Anglican Communion, and Lutheranism. Also, she is the patron saint of chastity, gardeners, girls, engaged couples, rape victims, and virgins as well. However, this beautiful saint died during Diocletian’s persecution (A.D 304/A.D. 395), when she was only 12 or 13 years old. This beautiful young girl with novelty was wanted by many men of Rome. However, at a very young age, she decided to devote herself to Christ and to keep her virginity. She is also famous for saying, “Jesus Christ is my only spouse”, when she was asked to be married. Her decision to keep her purity angered many young men who then denounced her before the magistrate as a Christian. One of the men who was especially angered was Procop, the son of the Governor. He became very angry when St. Agnes refused his proposal. He tried his best to marry her by offering gift and promises. His father, the governor allured her with rich gifts if she would only deny God and get marry. St. Agnes refused to renounce her faith, and even when was in chains or was tortured by fire.
