St.Teresa was born Agnes Gonxan Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia on August 26, 1910. Nikollëa and Dranafile Bojaxhiu were the parents of her. Lazar and Aga Bojaxhiu were her brother and sister, Agnes was the youngest of the family. When she was nine, her family's life was upset when her loving father died. Agnes went to a public and she became interested in helping the poor at the age of 12. She became a member of a society at her school that focused on missions far away. By her teenage years, she became a lot more interested in helping the poor. She was inspired most by the missions being done by missionaries in India. Mother Teresa had a second calling that she called "a call within a call" in 1946.She felt that she was called to leave the covent life and help the poor directly. In 1948, she was permitted to leave the convent and start a new work under Calcutta's Archbishop. With the American missionary Sisters in Patna, India, Mother took hard medical training. In 1948, Mother Teresa's group, now called the Missionaries of Charity, received a high-ranking position as a religious community within the Archdiocese of Calcutta. The members her group, the Missionaries of Charity, took traditional vows that were had up of poverty, purity, and obedience. This time, they add a fourth vow, and it was to give free service to the poorest. Her group received a lot of attention, and Mother Teresa used it to benefit her work and in 1957, they began to work with lepers. They also opened an orphanage and a home for abandoned children. Mother Teresa visited other countries such as Australia, Tranzania, Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka, Italy, and Venezuela to start new bases.
