Stan Grant’s speech on racism and the effect it has on the ‘Australian dream’ discusses the impact that colonisation and discrimination has had on Indigenous Australians. He opens the speech by referencing the Adam Goodes saga involving the many racist and derogatory comments that were made towards him, not only on the football field but when he won Australian of the year. Grant also raises the point that his people die earlier than white people in Australia and that young indigenous people have a higher chance of being imprisoned than finishing high school.
