(add intro sentence about book) On average every single day in the world more than 21,000 people cause of death is from starvation (Poverty ). Sad to say this but a majority of the deaths are kids. In fact about 18,000 kids die everyday according to The United Nations ( Poverty ). This means on average every single year a little less than 8 million people die every year just from starvation. The issue of starvation just like in the Glass Castle written by Jeannette Walls, is still a very real issue that is still present not just in local society but in the whole word; it’s not like the there's not enough food for the whole world it's just they can’t afford it so the starve to death. Some facts about poverty in America are, over 45 million people are living in poverty, and of that 45 million, 15 million are kids under the age of 18 (Hunger). Big reasons leading to hunger are the scarcity of jobs now a days, technology has advanced much more than most people anticipated and a lot of jobs are being replaced by machines, and because a lot of jobs in America are being replaced, families don’t have any source of income to feed their families. Other things that are happening are a ton of jobs are being shipped overseas to other countries because it is cheaper for them to manufacture goods then over here with means less money for the United States. Immigration also is contributing to the low amount of jobs available, immigrantes when coming to the United States will take almost any work they can get for just about any wage.(World Hunger) Other things that are causing poverty in the United States is the fact that income is staying stagnant.(us news)This means that prices are going up but people are still making the same amount of money. Now these numbers are a bit older dating as far back as 2008 and over the past couple of years these numbers have improved but living in the greatest*** country in the world nobody should ever have to not know when their next meal is, and nobody should have to starve to
